Planning programs for a public library

Planning programs takes a lot of coordination from multiple departments in a public library.

This is a quick list of the duties involved when I plan a program:
1-Finding and scheduling authors or performers
2-Scheduling Staff
3-Paying Performers
4-Advertising in print and on social media
5-Getting (& paying for) supplies
6-Thanking the supporters

Programming can be a lot of fun.  Especially when everything goes just right and you have a good group of people that attend your event.  One of my favorite websites for ideas on planning library programs is:  Programming Librarian (dot) org. It's an excellent resources if you are looking for tips on how to start a specific type of program.  You can sort the types of programs by:  Budget,  Library Type,  Popular Topics  and  Audience
I'm currently in the process of looking at the way other libraries incorporate 3D printing into their programming.  Let me know if you have any ideas!

Click here is a list of past programs I have planned or helped coordinate.

Feel free to comment below if you have any questions about any of these programs.  I am working on a blog post to expand this list in the future.
